Welcome To Our SIVLEization

SIVLE (Elvis spelt backwards and pronounced civil) is a versatile Rock and Roll band from Brantford Ontario, Canada, belting out an arsenal of legendary cover tunes from the 50s - today as well as many originals. SIVLE's regular show of songs from Yesteryear and Today features a crowd-induced trip down memory lane of hits from Elvis, Lady GaGa, Miley Cyrus, Pink, Janis, CCR, the Beatles, Johnny Cash, Joan Jett, Pat Benatar, Jimi Hendrix and much well-known radio hits from the last 60 years!!!

The eclectic and diversified trio is female-fronted by powerhouse Joan Minnery. On lead guitar/vocals is Bill Minnery, and Dan Taylor fills out the trio on guitar/vocals/drums. SIVLE also has a 4-piece full band unit.

SIVLE was formed in 2017 with opportunities that include being the opening act for the 2019 WTFest Rock Festival, featured entertainment at the 2019 Brantford Mayor's Levee and headlining both the Find Your Spirit Fest & Downtown Music Fest in 2018. SIVLE also appeared at the 2022 Summer Street Festival in Woodstock. The popular band has packed rooms across Ontario and most notably they were featured at the 2023 World Music Festival in Mississauga.

Sivle released their brand new album "Bless This House" on November 11th, 2023.  The album features seven (7) original tunes all written by members of the band. The songs highlight Joan Minnery on lead/backup vocals, Bill Minnery on lead vocals and guitar/bass and Dan Taylor on lead/backup vocals as well as guitar/bass and keys. Bob Minnery -- bigEZbob appears on banjo on Bless This House.

The uniqueness of the album -- Bless This House is that it features several vocal tracks from the two guys in the band, as most of Sivle's work has always been with Joan as the lead vocalist.

Bill's songs "Epiphany" and I Can't Find My Way" reflect his guitar virtuosity in Progressive Rock/Blues, Dan's songs "Looking at You" and "Feels Like Home" lean towards Soft Rock with likeable hooks, while Joan remains true to her roots with Country Rock in the title track "Bless This House" about her father and her autobiographical "I'm Not Giving Up This Mic. Then the band veers off in an old school Psychedelic Pop anthem in "Sing IT Like Pearl."

The album has received rave reviews from Indie Radio DJs and has been featured on programs in Canada, the United States, Great Britain, Europe and Australia.  Several of their tracks are in 24/365 rotation on ISSA Radio out of Atlanta Georgia and two of their songs have reached #1 status on Banks Radio out of Australia.

SIVLE is female-fronted by powerhouse Joan Minnery. On lead guitar and background vocals is Bill Minnery, her well-known son, who is a genuine jaw-dropping guitar virtuoso. Versatile musical genius Dan Taylor fills out the trio on guitar/vocals/drums. SIVLE has a loyal following called their SIVLEization -- a good healthy crowd of folks in their late 20s - 70s.

The popular band has packed rooms at the Sanderson Centre, Corktown Pub, Delhi Harvest Fest, Jeffery’s Lounge, Manny’s Place, Branch 90 Legion, Tansley's, Upper Thames Brewery, the Norfolk County Fair, the Polish Hall, Paris Street Jams, Woodstock Navy Club, Ironworks Restaurant, Frankies Tavern, the St. George Legion, the Honest Lawyer, the Woodstock Cheese Fest, and the Norwich Museum. SIVLE appears at a variety of festivals, fairs and local establishments, including a bi-monthly residency at the Duke on Park in Brantford.

When the full band is out, legendary female musician Jamie Reinhart joins in on bass and vocals. Joan's brother Bob Minnery aka bigEZbob is also out periodically as a guest on rhythm acoustic. Bob has been instrumental in writing all of the first recordings of original tunes as well as their sister, Anne Minnery.

SIVLE has two distinct shows. The first is the full 4 piece band showcase with drums, bass, guitar and vocals, which is preferred for bars, taverns, bigger stages and outdoor festivals. The other is the more scaled-down three-piece acoustic, which goes over very well, in particular for smaller stages, matinees and legions. A SIVLE show features music from Elvis, the Beatles, CCR, Pink, Lady Gaga, and Janis Joplin and includes a wide variety of hits from Today and Yesteryear. There is something for everyone.

"We are overwhelmingly gobsmacked with the release of our album in 2023 and our singles in 2019 and 2020. Holy frijoles what a firestorm. Our original tunes have also been on both the 2022 and 2023 Brantford Trail Mix CD. We never saw this coming; we used to be just a 'cover' band.

SIVLE has a very loyal following which we call our SIVLEization!!

Press & Fan Quotes:

Please be sure to check out his complete review on our band from BlogHoarder: https://www.bloghoarder.com/sivle

Daniel Hodgson - Blog Hoarder Journalist: "Shedding the skin of a cover band and showing their true colours, Sivle (Elvis spelled backward) from Brantford, Ontario is coming into their own while pushing the limits of indie rock. The vocal powerhouse Joan Minnery has the cadence and range of a Florence Welch of Florence + The Machine while keeping a style all her own. Her voice sounds like it was birthed on a Broadway stage there is such a theatrical beauty to it, yet there is an unmistakable rock element that adds the knife sharp edge to the arrangement. The strange beauty in this band comes from the versatility of each member making their true direction hard to pin point, which is one of the most exciting aspects to this group. I can hear the ticking of the time bomb that is about to blast Sivle over the radio waves and anyone in the blast radius will have an earful of inspirational rock. This band is a spider that dips each of its legs into a sound and then spins them all together in a unique and gripping web that you don’t want to escape from."

Another Awesome Review From Music Journalist Snail Puddings: https://initiateerror.wixsite.com/snailpuddings/post/sivle

“Every once in a while a group of artists come together and make something absolutely beautiful to the point that it's almost surreal. Sivle has shown me to be one of those collectives. Described as soft-rock, there is a lot more to hear than the mellow guitar tunes. Their music raised my spirits after a long and difficult weekend. The video above is from the track Throw Down Those Stones, which is the first song I started with. It kicks off with a nice distortion riff that leads into the marching drums and then Joan hits the mic to tie this rock ballad up into a beautiful gift.Next on the playlist is Whatever It Takes. This song is another hit from their collection, with righteous guitar leads, and a bit of bluesy rhythm. Joan does a wonderful job holding each note as she sings out Whatever It Takes, you can feel that she really believes that. There is an amazing solo waiting for you about three minutes in. The final song I want to leave you with is called Dancing To Tom Petty. If you weren't already impressed with Sivle's grasp of classic rock sounds then this song will drill it right in. Sivle really hit home with this song, everyone can relate to this song. It captures that feeling you get when you just want to hear that special song. Then when you do you turn it up and play it loud! If you feel like dancing? Do it!”

"As always -- SIVLE is a must see live! You can't see the energy this band gives off until you see them live. They connect with their fans and our energy feeds their energy.  If you only see their show once,  you have to return to a number of shows to witness the change from show to show, its an absolute delight! While contemplating SIVLE, I couldn’t help but think of the Grateful Dead who were one of the early pioneers of direct relationships with their live show fans and renown for fusing many different styles together. SIVLE is the Grateful ALIVE.” ~ Ken Shipman, Brantford ON

"What a range of talent and genres! From Elvis to Van Halen they have it all. Perfect harmony, teeth shattering guitar solos and heart pounding drum solos! An excellent group of very talented people and awesome performers/musicians. The power in Joan's voice is undeniable as is the music accompaniment by Bill & Brad. From Elvis to Robert Plant--a wide variety of music was played and the quality of the music and the energy of the band are superb.” ~ Nancy Sherwood, Woodstock ON

“The standard of musicianship was fantastic, unleashing their full charge of extraordinary talent. Their fiery performance hit the audience roaring with committed versions of songs people wanted to hear. Transformed in time, this band captivated the swaying crowd with their exuberant enthusiasm, explosive energy & vocals that propelled the show to epic levels."

~ Anna Fornella, Brantford Ontario
